Wayanad is one of the most beautiful places in Kerala, with green hills, cool weather and peaceful surroundings. It is a perfect destination for those who want to relax and enjoy the nature. Whether you are coming with your family or friends, Wayanad has many great resorts where you can stay. In this blog, I will tell you about the best 9 resorts in Wayanad. These resorts offer good service, clean rooms and are in some of the best locations in Wayanad.
I've been to Wayanad many times and each season is special.
Remember, it can rain any time in Wayanad because it's in a tropical area. Always bring a small umbrella or raincoat!
My Personal Rating: 4.8/5
I recently stayed at Vythiri Village Resort, and it was a peaceful, cozy experience. My friends and I from Kochi had a great time, enjoying the calm and quiet of the place.
We stayed in a cottage, which was a little far from the main building, but the resort provided a cab to take us whenever we needed. The driver, Vimal, was very friendly and gave us helpful tips about Wayanad.
The staff at the resort were mostly young girls, and they were very humble and helpful. A special thank you to Ms. Shree Janya, who made sure our stay was comfortable. The rooms were clean and cozy, and we felt very welcome.
While everything else was wonderful, the food could have been better. The dinner and breakfast buffet were just okay, and I felt it was not worth the high price.
If you’re looking for a quiet and nature-filled place in Wayanad, I would recommend Vythiri Village Resort.
My Personal Rating: 4.8/5
I recently spent two days at Banasura Hill Resort, and it was a peaceful and refreshing experience. The resort is spread across 35 acres of greenery and it's located on the beautiful hills of Wayanad. It’s the perfect place for nature lovers who want a quiet break.
My family enjoyed walking the nature trails around the resort, and we even had a guide for some of them. The views from the resort were stunning, especially the sight of the Banasura Hills. There was a small stream nearby where we spent some relaxing time.
The resort staff was very friendly and always ready to help. From the housekeeping to the restaurant staff, everyone was polite and made sure we had everything we needed. Special thanks to the trail guides who were very knowledgeable about the area.

I recently had the chance to stay at Cliffotel, and it was a great experience. We stayed for two days and really enjoyed the peace and quiet.
The view was the best part of the stay. We could see the beautiful Attamala Viewpoint and Glass Bridge, both of which were within walking distance. Waking up early to catch the sunrise from the viewpoint was amazing.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Sinan, the manager, made sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were clean and spacious, though the walls were a bit thin, so we could hear some noise from the dining area.
We enjoyed taking a dip in the pool with a view of the hills. The campfire in the evening was also a nice touch, and we got to sit around the fire, enjoying the cool breeze and looking at the stars.
The food was good, simple and affordable. The staff made fresh meals, but it did take a little longer to be served. My advice would be to order your food ahead of time if you are hungry. They also had snacks and chocolates available if you wanted something quick.
The only downside was that the road to the property was a bit rough for the last kilometer, but it wasn’t too bad. If you’re planning to visit, I would recommend a winter trip because the mist and fog add to the beauty of the place. We went in the summer, and while it was still beautiful, the cool winter atmosphere would have made it even better.

I recently took a trip to Morickap Resort with my family, and it was an amazing experience.
We stayed in one of the spacious villas and it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean, cozy and well-maintained. My kids loved the large pool and the kids' play area, while my wife and I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the beautiful views of the mountains. The resort also has a spa and I must say, the treatments there really helped us unwind.
The staff were extremely polite and helpful. Tittu and Praveen were always there to assist us, and their hospitality made us feel at home. We loved the food at the Clovia Garden Restaurant. It was freshly made and delicious and there were plenty of options for both adults and kids.
My kids had fun playing chess and table tennis in the activity center. We also took short walks around the property, and the nearby Attamala Glass Bridge and Viewpoint were just a short walk away.
Although the pool wasn’t temperature-controlled, and the jacuzzi was out of order, the overall stay was excellent. We felt truly pampered during our stay, and the peaceful surroundings were just what we needed to relax.

Many people ask me how to reach Wayanad from different cities, so I’ve made it easy for you. Here are the common routes to Wayanad, based on my travels. I always prefer going solo on my bike, but when I travel with my family, we use a car.
From Calicut (Kozhikode), Wayanad is about 85 km away. The road is nice and takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. You can take a bus or drive, and it’s a scenic route through NH766.
Coimbatore to Wayanad is around 245 km. It takes 6 hours to drive. There are buses available, but I recommend driving if you want to enjoy the sights.
Kannur is around 110 km from Wayanad. It takes about 3 to 3.5 hours. You’ll enjoy a smooth drive, and you can also catch a bus.
Traveling from Kochi, it’s about 280 km to Wayanad. It takes 7 hours by road. Buses are available, but the drive is long, so be prepared.
Same as Calicut, the distance is 85 km, and the drive takes 2.5 to 3 hours.
From Munnar to Wayanad, it’s about 340 km. You’ll be on the road for around 8 hours, so I recommend starting early. The route is beautiful with mountain views.
The distance from Wayanad to Alleppey is around 280 km, and it takes about 7 hours to reach. You can drive or take a bus.
From Wayanad to Munnar, it’s also 340 km, and the journey will take you about 8 hours by road.
I’ve explored a lot of places in Wayanad during my travels. Here are some spots you must visit:
I recently visited Edakkal Caves, and it was a mix of adventure and history. The trek up to the caves is a bit tough, especially with its steep slopes and stone steps but it’s worth it. If you enjoy walking and climbing the journey to the caves will be exciting, offering beautiful views of the Western Ghats. Once inside, I saw rock carvings that date back to 6000 BCE—truly amazing!
The caves are large and the ancient symbols and engravings on the walls tell stories from a long time ago. The trek might be challenging for elderly people and small kids but for those looking for adventure. it’s a must visit place.
Location: Ambalavayal, Wayanad, Kerala 673593, India
I recently visited Soochippara Falls, and it was a beautiful but tiring experience. The waterfall is about 1.5 km from the parking area, and you need to climb down a steep path to reach it. The trek down is scenic, with lush greenery and the sound of birds. The waterfall itself is stunning, and many people were enjoying the cool water.
However, the walk back up is tough, especially for elderly people or kids. It’s best to visit early in the day, as only a limited number of tickets are sold (up to 1200 people per day). The entry fee is in cash, so carry exact change. It can be quite busy, so plan ahead to avoid disappointment.
Location: Vellarimala, Wayanad, Kerala 673577, India
I recently visited Banasura Sagar Dam with my family, and it’s one of the best spots in Wayanad for a day out. As the largest earthen dam in India, the views here are breathtaking. You can enjoy boating, zip-lining and a kids' play area making it perfect for a family picnic. The place can get crowded, especially during holidays, so I recommend visiting early.
Location: Padinjarathara, Wayanad, Kerala 673575, India
I visited Pookot Lake with my family, and it’s one of the most peaceful spots in Wayanad. It is surrounded by lush green hills and has a nice walking path around it. For families, there’s a children’s play area and for boating lovers you can rent paddle boats, which are great for a relaxing time on the water.
There’s also an aquarium and snack counters if you’re looking for something quick to eat. It’s a perfect spot to spend with fmaily.
Location: Pookode, Wayanad, Kerala 673121, India
I visited Chembra Peak recently, and it’s a must-visit for trekking lovers. The trek is moderate to difficult, but the view from the top is worth every step. The highlight is the heart-shaped lake, which is beautiful. Only 200 people are allowed to trek daily, so get there early (before 5 AM) to secure a spot. Wear comfortable shoes, as the climb is steep, and be prepared for leeches during the rainy season.
Location: Near Meppadi, Wayanad, Kerala 673577, India
I visited Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary recently, and it’s a peaceful place full of nature. The safari ride was short but enjoyable. I saw elephants, deer, and peacocks, but it’s important to remember that spotting animals is not always guaranteed. There are bus and jeep safari options, with tickets available early in the morning. The jeep safari costs ₹2000 and the bus safari is ₹300 per person.
Location: Muthanga, Wayanad, Kerala 673592, India

I spent two days at Banasura Hill Resort, and it was a peaceful and enjoyable experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, from the reception to the restaurant. The buffet had simple, tasty food, though not too many dishes.Despite small issues like power cuts and the mosquitoes, my experience at Banasura was wonderful. I even saw a firefly for the first time, which was quite exciting!

Banasura Hill Resort is a great place to enjoy nature. The views of the hills are beautiful and the property is large with many places to explore like a sunrise point, a cave, and a tea estate. The food was delicious. The staff were always friendly and ready to help.

Cliffotel is not a typical hotel but more of an apartment-style accommodation. The rooms are clean, and there is plenty of space for car parking. However, there are no provisions for making tea or coffee, and room service is not available. The location is a bit far from the main road, so you need to use your car or walk to nearby restaurants for meals. The stay was decent, but I felt like I paid more than what it was worth.

Cliffotel offers a spacious and comfortable apartment-style stay at an affordable price. We rented a 2-bedroom apartment that came with a living room, dining table, kitchen, and refrigerator. The staff were helpful and made the stay enjoyable, though it feels more like staying in a home rather than a hotel. The Wi-Fi and TV signal were poor, and the breakfast options were limited. Despite these issues, the stay was comfortable and good value for money
