Vagamon is one of the hidden gems in Kerala. Whether you're planning a trip with family or friends, finding the right resort can make your stay even better. In this guide, I'll share my personal experiences from visiting Vagamon’s top 6 resorts in 2024.
I've visited Vagamon many times, and each season offers something special.
My Personal Rating: 4.8/5
When I stayed at Monticle Glamps, my experience was nothing short of amazing. Every morning, I woke up to stunning views of the tea plantations and the cool, fresh air really set the mood for a relaxing getaway.
The rooms were clean, spacious and elegantly designed. I especially loved the cozy feel of the private balcony where I spent a lot of time just soaking in the views. The staff was always warm and welcoming, with a special mention to Gauri and Unnikrishnan, who went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. Their service was professional friendly and it added a personal touch to my stay.
One of the highlights for me was the swimming pool—the water was crystal clear, and though it wasn’t heated, I found it refreshing, especially in the cool Vagamon weather. The fire camp in the evenings was memorable experience. The staff lit it up on request without hesitation, making the nights even more special.
The food was great, although I agree with some reviews that certain dishes could be improved, like the mutton.
If you’re planning a visit to Vagamon, I highly recommend staying at Monticle Glamps for at least two days to fully enjoy everything it has to offer—from the luxury glamping experience to the adventure activities and, of course, the unbeatable views.

When I visited Palette Hill View Resort in Vagamon, I felt like I had entered a serene paradise. The location was one of the best . When I arrived, I was greeted warmly by the staff and they made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay.
The infinity pool was incredible—floating in the water with a view of the misty hills made me feel like I was swimming in the clouds. The rooms were clean and cozy, but they could have been a little bigger. However, the peaceful environment more than made up for the size.
Tasty food and value for money. The staff was always polite and helpful which made the experience even better. A special mention to Mr. Vipin at the front desk, who was attentive and made sure all my needs were met.
If you’re visiting Vagamon, Palette Hill View Resort is a great choice for a relaxing getaway.

When I stayed at Mountain Villa, it felt like I had stepped into a different world, away from the hustle and bustle. The location is very secluded, and the views were breathtaking. The cottages are nestled in a peaceful.
What stood out the most was the off-grid experience—no electricity, no Wi-Fi, and limited mobile coverage. It really allowed me to switch off and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. The property is run on solar power, which aligns perfectly with its eco-friendly approach. The food was simple but delicious, made from fresh ingredients, and the staff, especially Joshy, was so helpful, making sure everything was just right.
The jeep ride to the villa was quite an adventure since it's the only way to reach this remote spot. But once you’re there, it’s a haven of peace and quiet. I highly recommend Mountain Villa if you're looking to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy some tranquility.

When I visited Heaven Valley Resorts with my family, it was truly a magical experience. The nice cool air and quiet surroundings made it a great break from our busy daily life.
We stayed in one of the spacious family cottages, which was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the basic amenities. The kids loved exploring the garden and playing in the activity area while we relaxed on the balcony enjoying the beautiful mountain views.
The staff at Heaven Valley were incredibly friendly and helpful making sure we had everything we needed. One evening we enjoyed a cozy campfire and barbecue, which was a highlight of our trip. The local cuisine at the on-site restaurant was delicious, especially the homely touch in each meal.
The hotel also set up a jeep ride in the wild. It was exciting and fun for everyone in the family. Driving on rough roads and seeing beautiful sights made it a trip to remember.

When I visited Vagamon Vagashore with my partner, it was the perfect couple-friendly resort for a peaceful and relaxing escape. The serene location with stunning lake views and cool, misty weather made our stay feel like a retreat into nature.
We stayed in one of the Executive Rooms with a Lake View, and the scenery from the balcony was breathtaking. Waking up to the sight of the calm lake and surrounding hills made our mornings extra special.
Though the approach road to the resort was a bit challenging, especially at night, the beauty of the place more than made up for it. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us, which made us feel very welcome.
The food was delicious especially the traditional dishes they served for dinner. Breakfast was simple but tasty, and though the variety was limited, the freshness of the ingredients made up for it.

I just got back from an amazing trip to Vagamon! I want to share my personal experience visiting some of the best spots in Vagamon so that you can plan your trip with confidence.
I had heard a lot about Vagamon Meadows, but seeing it in person was something else! The endless green fields stretched out like a carpet under the blue sky. It felt like I had stepped into a dream. The fresh air and cool breeze made my morning walk so refreshing. I took tons of photos, but honestly, no picture can do justice to the beauty of this place.
If you visit, try to go early in the morning to enjoy the meadows without too many people around. It's so peaceful at that time, and you can really take in the beauty of the place.
I’ve always loved forests, and Vagamon Pine Forest didn’t disappoint. Walking through the tall, towering pine trees felt surreal, especially with the sunlight streaming through the branches. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon. I even found a quiet spot to sit and just soak in the calmness around me.
The ground can be a bit slippery, especially if it’s rained recently, so make sure to wear shoes with good grip. And take a moment to just sit and breathe—it’s a great place for a little bit of meditation.
This was one of my favorite experiences! I’m not a super experienced trekker, but the hike up Kurisumala Hill was manageable and well worth it for the view at the top. The hill is also a pilgrimage site and I met a few fellow travelers on the way who shared their stories with me making the hike even more special. The view from the top is breathtaking—totally worth the climb.
If you’re looking for some peace and quiet, go during the early morning hours. The hike isn’t too hard, but it’s always good to take it slow and enjoy the journey.
I’m a sucker for waterfalls, so I had to check out Vagamon Falls. I went just after the monsoon season, and the falls were absolutely stunning. The sound of the water was so calming. I found a nice spot nearby to sit and just listen to the falls—it was the perfect break from the day’s adventures.
The area around the falls can get slippery, so walk carefully. Also, avoid going too close to the water—it’s beautiful to look at, but the currents can be strong.
This place took my breath away! Mundakayam Ghat is known for its paragliding, but even if you're not into that, it’s worth visiting for the stunning views. I went around sunset, and it was one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen. The sky turned shades of pink and orange and the view of the valley below was incredible.
If you’re feeling adventurous, try paragliding! I didn’t get the chance this time, but I’ve heard it’s an unforgettable experience. Even if you don’t, make sure to catch the sunset—it’s magical.
Getting to Vagamon was a smooth and scenic journey for me, but I know that planning a trip can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. So, I’m sharing some useful tips on how to get there, based on my own experience. Whether you're traveling from nearby cities or further away, I’ve got you covered!
The nearest airport to Vagamon is Cochin International Airport, which is about 75 km away. From the airport, you can either rent a car or take a taxi directly to Vagamon. I recommend pre-booking a taxi, as it saves time and ensures a smoother trip. The drive itself is beautiful, with winding roads and lush greenery all around.
If you prefer traveling by train, the nearest railway station is Kottayam, located about 65 km from Vagamon. From there, you can hire a taxi or hop on a bus to Vagamon. The train ride to Kottayam offers picturesque views, and it’s a relaxing way to travel. I’ve found that the local taxis from Kottayam are quite affordable, and the drivers are usually knowledgeable about the area.
This is how I traveled, and I loved every minute of the drive! Vagamon is well connected by road, and you can easily reach it from major cities like Kochi (100 km) and Kottayam (65 km). I rented a car for the trip and took the scenic route from Kochi. The winding roads and views of tea plantations and valleys made the journey unforgettable. There are several local buses that also run from Kochi, Kottayam, and other nearby towns, but if you prefer more comfort and flexibility, I suggest renting a vehicle.
During my trip, I couldn’t resist taking a day to explore Munnar, and let me tell you, the drive from Vagamon to Munnar is absolutely stunning. Here's how you can make the most of this scenic journey:
The best way to travel from Vagamon to Munnar is by road. The distance is about 100 km, and it takes around 3 to 4 hours, depending on the road conditions and how many stops you make to soak in the views (and trust me, you’ll want to stop!). I hired a local taxi for the trip, and the driver was not only knowledgeable but also knew all the best spots for photos.
There are regular buses that connect Vagamon and Munnar, and it’s a great budget-friendly option. The bus ride might be a bit longer than by car, but it’s a good way to experience the local culture and enjoy the views.
Visiting Vagamon has always been a special experience for me, and I know it will be for you too. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been before, these FAQs based on my personal visits should help you make the most of your trip.
Based on my trips, the best time to visit Vagamon is from October to February. The weather is cool and perfect for exploring the hills. During the monsoon (June to September), Vagamon is lush and green but expect heavy rains, which might affect travel and outdoor activities.
I’ve traveled to Vagamon by road, but here are all the options:
Yes! I’ve taken my family to Vagamon, and we loved it. Resorts like Heaven Valley and Mountain Villa offer family-friendly amenities, spacious cottages, and activities that the whole family can enjoy.
My Tip: If you're visiting with kids, I recommend choosing a resort that has an activity area or garden space where they can safely play.
I always tell my readers that Vagamon is about experiencing nature more than ticking off tourist spots. Here are my top recommendations:
Absolutely! I’ve had a fantastic experience at Vagamon Vagashore, which is known for being couple-friendly.
My Tip: If you’re traveling with your partner, choose a resort with lake or hill views for a more romantic experience. Also, call ahead to confirm their couple-friendly policies if you have any concerns.
Here’s a list based on what I brought:
I’ve found Vagamon to be perfect for a mix of adventure and relaxation. Here’s what I recommend:
During my last trip, I took a scenic drive from Vagamon to Munnar. The distance is about 100 km, and the journey takes around 3-4 hours. You can hire a local taxi or drive yourself if you enjoy road trips. There are also buses available, but they take longer.
My Tip: If you’re driving, leave early in the morning to enjoy the misty views along the way. Pack snacks and water for the journey—it’s a long but beautiful drive!
Yes! Many resorts offer local Kerala cuisine, which I highly recommend. I especially enjoyed the traditional meals at Heaven Valley Resorts—simple, delicious, and homely. Some resorts have limited options, so it’s always a good idea to ask for the menu in advance.
My Tip: Try the local fish curry and puttu for breakfast—it’s a Kerala specialty and absolutely delicious!

I recently visited Vagamon with my family after reading Sujith's guide, and it was a fantastic experience. The Monticle Glamps was a perfect choice for us. The views from the private balcony were breathtaking, and we enjoyed the fire camp in the evening. Sujith's recommendation to stay at least two days was spot on. We made the most of the adventure activities too. Thanks for the detailed guide, Sujith!

Palette Hill View Resort was beautiful, but I felt the rooms could have been a little bigger, as mentioned in Sujith's guide. However, the infinity pool was everything I hoped for, with those incredible views of the misty hills. The staff were very friendly, and we felt well taken care of. I would recommend this resort, especially for couples seeking a peaceful retreat.

I stayed at Heaven Valley Resorts, and I couldn’t agree more with Sujith's review. The family cottages were spacious, and the kids had a blast in the activity area. The campfire and BBQ were the highlights of our trip. The guide's advice on what to bring and when to visit Vagamon was super helpful. This blog really made our trip easier to plan.

I stayed at Mountain Villa after reading Sujith's blog, and while the off-grid experience was peaceful, it was a little too secluded for me. No Wi-Fi or electricity is great for some, but I prefer staying connected. That said, the views were stunning, and I appreciated the eco-friendly approach. I would recommend this place for nature lovers who want a real escape from the world.

After reading Sujith's guide, I booked a couple's getaway at Vagamon Vagashore. Everything was as described—the lake view from our room was incredible, and the staff were so welcoming. It was a peaceful retreat, just as promised. The road leading up to the resort was a bit tricky, but it was worth it for the stunning views and the serenity. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic escape.

I loved visiting Vagamon based on Sujith's recommendations, especially Vagamon Meadows and Pine Forest. Sujith was right about the best time to visit—December was perfect for cool weather and beautiful scenery. However, I wish there were more options for food near the resorts. Overall, the guide was a great help in planning my trip.
